For all other restarts of the game the Coach will be Master of the Ball!
Master of the Ball – reworked club description:
• 5 balls are required for this method.
• The two coaches assign themselves each to half of the field and carry at least 2 balls in their arms.
• Whenever a ball goes OUT OF PLAY the appropriate coach immediately rolls another ball into play (no bumper ball - our previous method of keeping the game going. NO KICK OFFS after a Goal!)
• If the ball goes slightly out of play but the player dribbles the ball back in that’s ok - let them play on! When a Goal is scored the ball may be rolled into the field from the half way line by a third adult
• The ‘new ball’ should be rolled to neutral space DO NOT bounce the ‘new ball’ as it is difficult for these players to judge a bouncing ball at this age
• Favor the team on the wrong end of a one sided game
• Favor individual players who are not becoming involved in the game
• Have parents retrieve lost balls and return it to the coach who just rolled the new ball in so he/she now has 2 balls once more!
• Celebrate ALL PLAYERS successes on either team! Indiana Youth Soccer surveyed the impact in the change of method. Without ‘Master of the Ball’ rule in 7 minute quarter the ball was in play for 4 minutes With ‘Master of the Ball’ rule in effect the ball was in play for 6 minutes and 30+ seconds. This means more touches and more soccer for the little players!

PENALTY ARC - Introduction

Players will no longer be able to play the ball inside the PENALTY ARC (area marked infront of the goal). *Except for defensive restart - see below* Players may run through it but may not play the ball inside the Arc. *Except for defensive restart - see below*
Penalties:
**updated rule** If a Defender plays the ball in the Arc (except in the execution of a restart) the attacking team  will be awarded a penalty kick - uncontested from the top of the arc!. **updated rule**

If an Attacker plays the ball in the Arc a defensive restart will be awarded to the defending team - Defensive Restart described below.
If the ball comes to rest in the Arc in the run of play the restart will be as described below.

DEFENSIVE RESTARTS from the PENALTY ARC ONLY
: All goal kicks (when the attacking team has played the ball over the goal line but not into the goal) are to be restarted with a throw or kick (punt) from inside the PENALTY ARC within 6 seconds of having the ball in the hands of the designated player following the referee’s signal.
The designated player may be different for each restart and is free to move anywhere within the PENALTY ARC as he or she wishes within the 6 seconds.
The player may also drop the ball to the ground and kick the ball from the ground if they wish but are still limited by the 6 second rule. The designated player may not dribble out of the penalty area/goal box nor can they throw the ball to themselves.
Another player must touch the ball in play before the designated player may touch the ball again following the restart. The timing of this will always be at the discretion of the referee. All other players shall remain outside the PENALTY ARC until the ball has left the PENALTY ARC and has entered the field of play. The ball will not be in play until it has exited the PENALTY ARC.
A goal cannot be scored directly from such a restart.
All other restarts will be an indirect kick with opponents at least six yards away from the ball. If the free kick is closer than six yards to the goal move the ball back to a spot six yards from the goal and then proceed with the indirect kick. No Penalty kicks at this age group.

SPECTATOR RESTRICTIONS

U7/U8 through U11/U12 age groups will now have a 6-10 foot buffer from the sideline (approx) This will be indicated with a painted blue line drawn on the ground. All spectators need to remain outside this SPECTATOR LINE at all times unless invited inside the line by the referee or a club official All team coaches are responsible for the enforcement of this rule to their team parents and spectators.

HARD CASTS No hard casts will be allowed in any AU*Capital SC sanctioned recreational game.

SIDELINE NUMBERS Please restrict your sideline (within the blue lines) to no more than 2 adults ONLY during the game. **VIOLATION of any of the above rules may lead to penalties to be determined by the AU*Capital SC disciplinary committee**
