Austin United Capital Soccer Club's
Boys and Girls Academy Program

AUCSC’s Academy Program for 8, 9 and 10 year old players is designed to support and guide those who wish to make the transition from recreational to competitive soccer. The program is geared to the more technically advanced and athletically motivated recreational player. Players with a strong desire to increase their technical skills while also learning more about the game will benefit greatly from our Academy environment.

The most important aspect of AUCSC's Academy Program is training. Technical and small-sided-tactical training is provided 2 times per week by our professional staff. Challenging training sessions conducted by the Academy staff are the key ingredient in the personal development of the players. Training activities are devised to help each player improve technically (skills), tactically (decision-making), physically (fitness) and psychologically (mental toughness). The Academy focuses on the complete development of each player. Through guided discovery teaching methods, the Academy staff challenges each player to creatively solve problems that only the game itself can provide.

In addition, players are expected to work at home on basic technical skills such as juggling, dribbling, individual moves, passing and receiving the ball. Because Academy program players are more advanced than recreational players, and because at this age with the correct training so much individual progress can be made, it is important that the player understand that a commitment to practice must be made or that player will soon be surpassed in skills by the other players. As in our select program, the Director along with the team’s coach gives each player a written individual assessment.

The AU*Capital Academy program provides ADVANCED TRAINING AND PLAYER DEVELOPMENT for play through US Club Soccer (CAYSA). U8’s are also eligible and could qualify to play up in the Academy or potentially in the AU*Capital SC Recreation league. Our Academy is more than just another series of skill building clinics - it provides the best training and playing environment along with the next level of TECHNICAL DEVELOPMENT and FOCUS for those players who enjoy the game, have reached a certain level of development and are ready to make more of a commitment to their overall soccer development.
